In fact, the Davidson Fellows Scholarship is just one of the many financial aids the Davidson Institute for Talent Development provides. Particularly, it is a Nevada non-profit corporation that is recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)3 tax-exempt private operating foundation.
Furthermore, the organization dedicates to supporting the intellectual and social development of profoundly gifted students through a variety of programs.

Davidson Fellows Scholarship: A Program Overview
The Davidson Fellows Scholarship awards $50,000, $25,000, and $10,000 scholarships to gifted and high-achieving students, 18 years old or under, who have completed a significant piece of work.

Program Benefits
The winners of the Davidson Fellows Scholarship will receive $10,000, $20,000, and $50,000, respectively. In particular, the leveling of the scholarship is based on the score the judges give to the most outstanding works.
Afterward, the winners must use the Davidson Fellows Scholarship to further their education through attendance at an accredited institution.
Basically, you can find the list of accredited institutions at the Regional Accreditation Board based on your school’s geographic area. In particular, the six regions are:
- MSA (Middle States Association)
- NASC (Northwest Association of Schools & Colleges)
- NCA (North Central Association of Colleges & Schools)
- NEASC (New England Association of Schools & Colleges)
- SACS (Southern Association of Colleges & Schools)
- WASC (Western Association of Schools & Colleges)
Eligibility Requirements
Generally, to be eligible for the Davidson Fellows Scholarship, you must:
- Be 18 or younger as of the application deadline.
- Be a U.S. citizen residing in the United States, or a Permanent Resident of the United States residing in the United States, or be stationed overseas due to active U. S. military duty.
- There is no minimum age for eligibility.
Specifically, the Davidson Institute is looking for students whose projects are at, or close to, the college graduate level. Moreover, the projects must be presented with a depth of knowledge in the students’ particular areas of study.
In another word, this scholarship is not available for students at the novice level.

How to Apply for a Davidson Fellows Scholarship
To apply for the scholarship, you must create a project based on the category of your field of study by following the provisions that have been set. In case it slips off your mind, you can read it again in the previous session.
Since the Davidson Institute awards these scholarships by assessing the significance of your work, you should pay attention to some of the essential factors listed below.
Nevertheless, what is a significant work?
In short, it is an accomplishment that experts in the field recognize as meaningful work. Besides, it should have the potential to make a positive contribution to society. For starters, such work may be a/an:
- exceptionally creative application of existing knowledge,
- new idea with high impact,
- innovative solution with broad-range implications,
- important advancement that can be replicated and built upon,
- interdisciplinary discovery,
- prodigious performance, or
- another demonstration of extraordinary accomplishment.
For instance, past Davidson Fellows included these positive contributions to society in their projects:
- Developing an approach leading to advancements in understanding gene functions in breast cancer research.
- Creating a new approach to pharmaceutical drug development using artificial intelligence.
- Developing a promising therapeutic option for highly aggressive cancers and a way to amplify existing chemotherapies.
- Creating an inexpensive trap that detects mosquitoes carrying the Zika virus, making it ideal for remote locations and disadvantaged regions.
- Creating a portfolio that takes an interdisciplinary approach to answer three main questions: What causes atrocities to occur? What can prevent these atrocities from occurring in the future? How do we remember genocide?
However, please note that projects in the arts including photography, sculpture, film, visual, etc. are not eligible for consideration.

Closing Dates
The deadline is March 10th, 2021, 11:59 pm Pacific Time.
Additionally, we recommend that you submit the initial portion of your application as quickly as possible. Typically, this initial portion will ask you things like:
- Project title and description, and
- Nominator’s names and email addresses.
However, the committee will send back your application for completion if you leave any of those items blank.
Then, the committee will hold your project for review once you submit the initial portion of your application. Next, when they approve your project, you will receive an email notification. Automatically, your nominators will also receive a Nominating Form link.
After that, when your nominators have completed the Nominating Form, the committee will send another email to them and you. Basically, it is an email containing the confirmation receipt from the Davidson Fellows program.
