About the Heisman Scholarship

In 1994, Wendy’s and the Heisman Trophy Trust collaborated to establish a scholarship in honor of bright high school students. Since its establishment, the program has capitalized on the Heisman Memorial Trophy’s status as an icon of exceptional talent and extraordinary effort.

By honoring and rewarding outstanding male and female scholar-athletes who know that the most important victories happen not only on the field, but also in their schools and communities, the Heisman Scholarship Program broadens the reach of the Heisman Trophy to the nation’s most outstanding high school seniors.

In its 28 years of existence, the program has recognized almost 600,000 of the nation’s most accomplished high school graduates. More than a million dollars have been donated to high school academic and athletic programs around the nation, and hundreds of thousands of dollars have been given out in college scholarships.

The program’s goal is to encourage all students, male and female, across the country to realize their full potential, overcome their limitations, and make the most of their talents in order to better their communities and the world at large.
