1. Arabic Language Diploma

The Arabic Language Diploma is intended for speakers of other languages and aims to teach them the Arabic language and its culture. It is a university education program aimed at non-Arabic speakers aiming at teaching Arabic language and culture It consists of twenty theoretical courses representing 60 accredited units. It is taught in four semesters. The actual teaching hours are 960 hours, with two hundred and forty hours in each semester.

The program grants two types of certificates approved by King Abdul Aziz University:

Certificate of linguistic preparation for completing the first-year courses

This certificate is granted with two conditions:

  • The attendance of the student is not less than 80% of the number of hours of study in each of the courses.
  • Pass the course exam by at least 60% of the final grade.

Certificate of General Diploma in Arabic Language (completion of study)

This certificate is granted with two conditions:

  • Attendance of the student not less than 80% of the number of hours of each course.
  • Pass the examinations of all the courses of this diploma by not less than 60% of the final grade.

To apply to any of the majors in the undergraduate program, candidates are expected to meet the following entry requirements.

  • Students must be of good conduct.
  • Students must make a full commitment to the King Abdulaziz University regulations and by-laws.
  • Students must be medically fit.
  • Students must have obtained a secondary school graduation certificate or equivalent from within KSA or abroad.
  • Regular Students attending in the morning duty must commit themselves to full-time study.
  • The students’ secondary school graduation certificate must not be older than 3 years.
  • Students must not be younger than 17 years old or older than 25 years old for the undergraduate level.
  • Students must not be dismissed from any university for any reason.
  • Students must not have been awarded a scholarship from a Saudi University.
  • A female student must be accompanied by a relative who is within the prohibited degrees with a regular resident.
  • Students must be eligible for admission requirements.

3. Graduate Programs

The graduate programs are an advanced stage of study either in scientific or humanitarian specializations. These studies include a higher diploma, master, and Ph.D. degrees. It is worth mentioning that the Faculty of Graduate Studies requires that applicant obtains a bachelor degree. King Abdulaziz University offers a diversity of Masters and Ph.D. programs.

To enroll in any of the majors in the Ph.D. program, candidates are expected to meet the following entry requirements.

  • Students must not be older than 35 years old.
  • Students must obtain a recognized qualification in his/her own country with a minimum grade (very good) in case their final degree classifications were awarded in an estimate.
  • Students must obtain one of the following scores in English language tests: 500 in TOEFL PBT, 173 in TOEFL CBT, 61 in TOEFL IBT, or 5 in IELTS.
  • Students must be of good conduct and medically fit.
  • Students must provide two recommendation letters from his/her previous faculty members.
  • Students must not have been dismissed from one of the Saudi Institutions.
  • Candidates of Arabic Language and Literature, Islamic Law and Studies, Sociology, Psychology, Information Science programs must be professional in spoken and written Arabic language.
  • Students must be of good conduct and medically fit.

Master’s Programs

There are six faculties within this level of study that international students can consider with each of its various available programs, including:
