Supporting Student Scholarships
The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) National Alumni Society’s 18th annual Scholarship Run, presented by VIVA Health, is scheduled for Saturday, April 20. This year’s event aims to raise funds to support student scholarships at UAB, furthering the mission of the National Alumni Society (NAS).
Event Details
New Addition: 1-Mile Fun Run
To cater to the little Blazers, a new 1-mile Fun Run has been added to the event. Smaller T-shirt sizes will be available for the Fun Run participants.
Race Information
The main event, comprising 5K and 10K distances, will start at 8 a.m. and is heading to Crestline Village in Mountain Brook, near Crestline Elementary School. The race will be held on a certified course and will be chipped and timed.
Registration
- Registration is open online for the 2024 Scholarship Run.
- Early bird registration fee: $30 (through March 22)
- Regular registration fee: $35 (from March 23 to April 19)
- Race-day registration fee: $40 (April 20)
- Fun Run registration fee: $20 (through April 20)
- Race-day registration and check-in will start at 7 a.m.
Participant Perks
All participants (5K, 10K, Fun Run, virtual) will receive a packet with a T-shirt and finisher medal. The last day to register and secure a race T-shirt is Friday, April 5.
Packet Pickup
Packet pickup will be available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, April 18, and Friday, April 19, at the UAB Alumni House, located at 1301 10th Ave. South, Birmingham.
Virtual Run Option
For those unable to attend in person or participate in the physical run, the NAS offers a virtual run option. Participants can join the virtual run and support student scholarships by signing up. All virtual participants will receive a T-shirt and finisher’s medal.
Scholarship Run Legacy
The Scholarship Run has been a longstanding tradition at UAB, helping to raise funds for student scholarships since its inception in 2007. Over the years, the event has allowed the NAS to raise more than $1 million in support of student scholarships, establishing itself as an exceptional annual run for alumni and friends.
About the National Alumni Society
The UAB National Alumni Society is a 501(c)(3) organization committed to serving UAB alumni and students through engaging events and resources. Each year, the NAS provides student scholarships through fundraising events like the Scholarship Run. This much-needed assistance is awarded to a wide range of students from across campus, including first-year, legacy, and graduate students. Increasing the amount of scholarship dollars provided to students is an instrumental goal of the NAS.
