About AYFN
The ASEAN Youth Friendship Network, more commonly known as AYFN, is a South Asian-based youth community that aspires to build a friendship network within the region. Founded on January 19th 2010, with its Headquarters in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, this establishment plans to create several projects that would help promote the values of education by creating youth placement programs in multiple countries. All this is done as an effort to promote cultural, youth, education, and knowledge exchange, which could inspire the younger generation to develop a sense of appreciation for these things above and create a positive impact within the globe.
About the Winter Korea Culture Camp 2020
The AYFN Winter Korea Cultural Camp 2020 is a program that is designed and offered to young learners who are interested in immersing themselves within the history, culture, and society of Korea. Through intensive activities which involves a language class and a Korean culture session, the main goal of this program is to promote and establish a better understanding of The Republic of South Korea within the global sphere. Luckily for the youths, from whatever country you come from, you can all sign up for this program. In addition, if your native language is not English, you can still join this program as well!
The program is also opening a scholarship scheme for a handful of selected grantees. Successful candidates of the program’s scholarship scheme will be entitled to several fully-paid amenities without any cost. However, as there are only 5 available slots, you better apply fast. But the preparation will all definitely be worth it. Once you get selected, you will have the chance to not only interact with the people of Korea, but also participants from other countries as well. Your horizons about Korean culture will be expanded as well. Once you finish the program, you will be leaving with a better understanding of The Republic of South Korea.
Activities
The AYFN Winter Korea Culture Camp 2020 is filled with educational yet super fun activities that revolves around Korean culture. For a long period of 6 days, you will be granted a chance to live in the heart of South Korea, Seoul. During your stay, you will join several activities which includes a basic Korean language class, a heritage walking tour all over Seoul and participating in some of Korea’s local traditions along with its local people. The purpose of having candidates joining these set of activities is to enable them to directly immerse themselves into Korean culture through experimental learning.
Regarding the Korean language class, the program will offer a set of short courses beginners. Whether you’re a basic learner or an advanced pro, everyone is given the same shot at the learning the fundamentals of the Korean language. Included in the course syllabus are Korean basics (e.g. self-introduction, greetings, listening, and basic conversations.) The courses are not only taught formally under a class environment, but participants will experience interactive learning as they will be encouraged to interact with the local people to fully implement what they have learnt through daily conversations in Korean.
On top of that, there will also be a Korean culture learning as well. By participating in several activities which includes wearing the traditional Korean garment (Hanbok), eating kimchi and Korean dumplings, and several more activities as well. Besides interactive activities, the program participants can also experience the culture and learn deeply about its rich history by going on the Seoul tour. They will have a change to visit iconic places such as the Geyongbokgung Palace and Bukchon Village.

Program Value
The AYFN Winter Korea Culture Camp 2020 provides a scholarship scheme where candidates can apply to get certain benefits. These generous benefits are fully-paid by the program itself, so grantees will not have to worry about any of these costs. However, just like what it has been stated above, the scholarship scheme only accepts 5 potential candidates – but don’t let that worry you. Once you look take a look at what the scholarship scheme has to offer, you’ll be motivated to sign up for this in a heartbeat. The program value includes:
- A fully-paid roundabout flight ticket from the capital city of the home country to Seoul, Korea. The airplane ticket will be in Economy class and it has a maximum limit of USD $600.
- A 6 Day-5 Night accommodation in Seoul, South Korea.
- Paid for meals (applicable for breakfast and lunch).
- Free airport pick up on January 6th, 2020.
- Free airport pick up on January 11th, 2020.
- All of the activities that are scheduled on the program (e.g. Korean language and culture, cultural tour, adventure tour to Nami Island.)
- Free entrance tickets to tourism spots.
- Paid for local commute (e.g. train and bus transportation.)
- An E-Certificate of participation established by the AYFN
- Supervision from the program.
- Fully paid domestic administration costs.
However, there are several items that will not be included in the scholarship scheme. Take note of these as well so that you will be able to anticipate that things that are excluded from the scheme. Excluded items include:
- Dinner
- Personal expenses
- Visa fee and passport
Eligibility
The AYFN Winter Korea Culture Camp 2020’s scholarship scheme will only be accepting potential candidates who possess high-quality traits that will be advantageous to the program. On top of that, the scholarship scheme will also be looking for candidates who might possibly benefit from the program as well. However, before anyone could sign up for this program through the scholarship scheme, they are required to pass the basic minimum requirements in order to proceed with the application:
- Applicants must meet the minimum age requirements of 15-35 years old.
- Candidates coming from all citizenships are encouraged to apply.
- Must follow the entire program from the start until finish.
- Can easily get used to new surroundings.
- Can pay the application/selection fee.
- Must be both physically and mentally healthy.
How to Apply

- A formal motivation letter.
- Any certificates of achievement.
