The scholarship will encourage young people to pursue careers in astronautics and related fields, and the annual Goddard Memorial Dinner honors people for their well-recognized achievements and services to the space industry.

Program Benefits
The Goddard Memorial Dinner, an annual highlight of the Washington space calendar, will be hosted and will be open to invited guests of the chosen students. It brings together around to 2,000 people from the public, private, and academic space communities.

Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for the National Space Club Scholarship, applicants must:
- Be a U.S. citizen;
- Have the intention of pursuing a career in the STEM fields;
- Plan to attend an accredited U.S. college or university to follow a course of study to pursue a career in the STEM field; and
- Not have previously spoken at the Dr. Robert H. Goddard Memorial Dinner.
It is important to note that people with interests in space will be given preference. Graduate students as well as high school seniors are eligible for the scholarship.
Selection Criteria
The selection for the award is made by the National Space Club and Foundation Committee on Scholarships on the basis of the following:
- Unofficial transcript of high school and/or college record;
- At least two letters of recommendation from faculty/professionals in science related fields;
- A brief statement of 150 words or less on your study or career plans with an emphasis on STEM; and
- A video audition on the topic “why you are inspired by space,” where the video should be no longer than three minutes in length and should feature the applicant speaking directly to camera.
From the original pool of candidates, three students will be chosen to take part in the final round.
The National Space Club and Foundation executive committee will meet in January, and these participants will present a manuscript of the entire 8-minute speech they would deliver at the Goddard Memorial Dinner as well as a 5-minute sample via Skype.
The National Space Club Scholarship Application
Along with the other qualifications and the online application, create a video and upload it to apply. The recommendation letters and unofficial transcript must be integrated into a single PDF.
Please be aware that the National Space Club maintains the right to demand original transcript copies that have been stamped or signed at any time during the application process.
If selected to proceed, you must be ready to participate in a live video conference interview with the National Space Club and Foundation executive committee on January 16, 2023. Additionally, you must be available to speak on March 10, 2023, at the Goddard Memorial Dinner.
The National Space Club and Foundation will cover the recipient’s travel and accommodation expenses as well as that of one visitor. Then, no later than June 30, 2023, the college or university will receive a scholarship check made payable to the relevant college or university.
