Are you a financially struggling Asian-American student looking for financial aid to help you fund your higher education? Look no further! Nikhil Desai, teamed with Bold.org, presents a Nikhil Desai Asian American Experience Scholarship for one lucky student to receive $1,000 worth an award.
The scholarship was designed to help students from Minority-American racial backgrounds to strive in college. The award can be used to pay for tuition fees, housings, and other living costs. As an essay-required scholarship, applicants will be required to submit their writing about their experience growing up as an Asian-American in a white-dominated environment.
This article will break down important information regarding the Nikhil Desai Asian American Experience Scholarship that you ought to know before applying. Let’s start first by understanding how the program works.
Nikhil Desai Asian American Experience Scholarship Program Overview
Nikhil Desai Asian American Experience Scholarship Program is a financial aid funded by Nikhil Desai, sponsored and administered by Bold.org. Nikhil Desai as the sole donor of the program affirms that the Minority-American experience is one that is filled with challenges. As an Indian-American himself, Desai was culturally, emotionally, and socially confused for most of his life.
It is further explained that at school, Desai enjoyed playing basketball and listening to the latest hip hop album that dropped. However, at home, he watched Bollywood movies with his mom and enjoyed Indian street food like Pani Puri. He felt as if he had two separate identities for different moments in his life. Unfortunately, he believes this is an experience that many other Asian-American students can resonate with.
Hence, the scholarship was designed to support an Asian-American student whose multicultural experiences have strongly influenced their current perspective. The scholarship awards the winner with a scholarship worth of $1,000. The award check will be sent to the financial aid office of the winner’s academic institution or future academic institution in their name, and the name of their institution (depending on the school’s requirements). If the student’s academic institution does not have a financial aid office, the student will receive the funding directly.
