Eligible candidates for this scholarship must be currently enrolled in a graduate program in the U.S. majoring in the mental health field and their programs must be accredited by ACGME, APA, CACREP, CSWE, and/or COAMFTE.
Additionally, applicants must demonstrate past involvement in extracurricular, volunteer, research, and/or career-related activities. The Melanie Foundation Scholarship is awarded for one year, but candidates may reapply for additional years. Applications are due by March 5th each year.

3. Consuelo W. Gosnell Memorial Scholarship
If you’re passionate about making a difference in underserved communities, the Consuelo W. Gosnell Memorial Scholarship is for you!
This scholarship is awarded to master’s degree candidates in social work who have a special connection with American Indian or Alaska Native and Hispanic or Latino populations or who have worked with public or voluntary nonprofit agencies or local grassroots groups in the U.S.

4. Maryland Graduate and Professional School Scholarship Program
Are you looking for federal grants for social workers? Look no further! While the Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC) may not offer federal grants, they do provide a scholarship program to residents of Maryland in need of financial assistance.
The scholarship is managed by the Office of Student Financial Assistance (OSFA), and available for part-time or full-time students enrolled in degree programs at eligible institutions, including:
- University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB)
- Johns Hopkins University
- University of Baltimore School of Law
