1. Fulbright Bulgaria – Grants for U.S. Citizens

A number of various grants offered to support U.S. citizens in pursuing studies, research and teaching assistance in Bulgaria.

• Grants for U.S. Scholars and Professionals: Opportunities for American scholars, artists and professionals to teach, conduct research, and/or consult with other scholars and institutions in Bulgaria.
  • The Core Fulbright Scholar Program: Up to 5 awards per academic year are open to specialists in any field except for clinical medicine and dentistry. Awards are for 3 to 5 months. Opportunities are available for college and university faculty and administrators as well as for professionals, artists, journalists, scientists, lawyers, and independent scholars.
  • The Global Flex Award: Opportunities for U.S. academics and professionals to collaborate and engage in scholarly activities in two or three countries in one or more regions. Projects are welcome in all disciplines, as well as those with an interdisciplinary focus. The minimum length of the total grant is three months and the maximum is six months. Grant segments may be conducted within one academic year or spread over two or three consecutive years.
• Grants for U.S. Students: Offers fellowships for U.S. students, MA / PhD candidates, young professionals and artists to conduct research, study or exercise their talents in Bulgaria for one academic year.
• Fulbright – America for Bulgaria Foundation English Teaching Assistantships: Offers graduate students in all fields the opportunity to teach English in Bulgarian public secondary schools for one year as teaching assistants.
• Short-term Grants for U.S. Specialists: Awards grants to U.S. faculty and professionals approved to join the Specialist Roster in select disciplines to engage in short-term collaborative projects at eligible institutions.

2. Eastern European Study Abroad (EESA) Scholarships

Various scholarships for students to study abroad. Students must be currently enrolled in a college or university and have their official transcript mailed to EESA. EESA Scholarship application deadlines are March 1 (for Fall semester), October 15 (for Spring semester), and April 1 (for Summer).

• EESA Merit-based Scholarship: Amounts up to $2,500. Available to students with a minimum GPA of 3.25.
• EESA Need-based Scholarship: Amounts up to $2,500. Available to students with a minimum GPA of 2.50.
• EESA Academic Year Scholarship: Amounts from $1,000 to $7,000. Available to students with a minimum GPA of 2.50.
• EESA Summer Scholarship: Amounts from $100 to $600. Available to students with a minimum GPA of 2.50.
• EESA Correspondent Grant: Amounts at $100. Available in addition to an awarded EESA scholarship. Recipients will be required to maintain an online blog with EESA about their experience abroad and contribute to it at least once every two weeks.

3. OppU Achievers Scholarship

Scholarship of $2,500 available for current or future education costs. Scholarship selections are made four times a year. The submission deadlines are September 30, December 31, March 31, and June 30. Scholarship decisions are based solely on the applicant’s essay response. To be eligible for an OppU Achievers Scholarship, a student must:

• Be enrolled full time in high school or at least part time in college, graduate, professional, or trade school
• Possess a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0/4.0

The recipient is awarded $2,500 to go toward educational expenses.

4. Avidafit Fully-Funded Science and Law School Scholarship

An initiative taken by affidavit institute of judicial practice to sponsor international students from all over the world to study without paying any fee in any Science or Law school under 1000 QS University Rank. This Fully-Funded Scholarship is open to undergraduate, master and doctoral programs students in Science and Law school only. The Scholarship will be available for the outstanding students twice a year and the initial application evaluation will be made based on the eligibility criteria. 5. American University in Bulgaria (AUBG) Scholarships

• Scholarships for Prospective Students: Every applicant is automatically reviewed for any scholarship that he/she is eligible to receive. Scholarships based on academic merit are awarded based on the strength of the applicant’s high school performance and English language proficiency test scores. Only applicants who have submitted complete Applications for Financial Assistance are eligible to receive any scholarship awarded (in full or in part) on the basis of financial need.
  • The Gipson Black Sea Scholarship: Two $5,000 scholarships annually for the four-year course of study are available for students from Romania, Ukraine, Georgia or Turkey, showing financial need and demonstrating academic excellence.
  • The Chandra Scholarship: One $5,000 scholarship for the first year of study at AUBG is available for new AUBG Roma student.
  • 25 Weeks if Pride Campaign Scholarship: One $3,000 scholarship for tge first year of study is available for a new AUBG student based on academic merit ((high school grades and TOEFL score).
  • Philhellene Scholarship: Two scholarships of $2,000 each for the first year of study are available to Greek students.
  • Yury Zabello Scholarship: Two $2,500 scholarships for the first year of study are available for freshman AUBG students from Belarus.
  • USIT Colors Scholarship: One $2,500 scholarship for the first year of study is available for a student from Bulgaria or developing country in Eastern Europe or Asia with financial need.
  • The Dynamic Resources Scholarship: One $2,500 scholarship for the first year of study is available for freshman AUBG student. The awardee must have a result of TOEFL or the equivalent English language proficiency exam above the average for the prior academic year’s incoming class and must be in need of financial support.
  • Serdika Scholarship: Four scholarships, $2,400 each, for the first year of study at AUBG.
  • Metcalf / Ramsden Endowed Scholarship: Fifteen $2,250 scholarships or the first year of study are available to first year students who have demonstrated financial need, and are students of considerable promise in terms of academic accomplishments, leadership abilities, and personal character.
  • Albanian Scholarship: Up to 15 scholarships of $2,000 each for the first year of study are available to incoming students of Albanian descent from Albania, Kosovo, and Macedonia, based on financial need. Scholarships are for the first year of study.
  • Huwiler / Khamatova Scholarship: One scholarship of $2,000 for the first year of study is available to a student from Kyrgyzstan (Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan or a country from Central Asia) with financial need.
• Scholarships for Continuing Students: Various scholarships for students already enrolled at AUBG.
  • The AUBG Class of 1995 Endowed Scholarship: Open to all full-time AUBG students for their sophomore, junior or senior year of study with a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or above. One $1,250 scholarship will be awarded and applied to the recipient’s University-related expenses for the next Fall and Spring semesters ($625 per semester), in accordance with the AUBG Named Scholarships Policy.
  • Gisela-Barbara Charlotte Bush Memorial Scholarship: Open to all full-time AUBG students, with a cumulative GPA of 3.6 or above. Preference will be given to the students with the greatest financial need. One $1,000 scholarship will be awarded and applied to the recipient’s University-related expenses for the next Fall and Spring semesters, in accordance with the AUBG Named Scholarships Policy.
  • Alf Eastergard Memorial Scholarship: Open to all full-time and continuing AUBG students with demonstrated high academic achievements (cumulative GPA above 3.00). Preference will be given to AUBG students showing outstanding interest and ability in the field of accounting. Applicants must have completed 2 or more courses in accounting. One $1,000 scholarship will be awarded and applied to the recipient’s University-related expenses for the next Fall and Spring semesters ($750 per semester), in accordance with the AUBG Named Scholarships Policy.
  • Cosmina Tanasoiu Memorial Scholarship: Open to all full-time AUBG students with a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or above. Preference will be given to students who major or minor in European Studies (declared with the Registrar’s office OR have enrolled in at least 2 EU core courses – not prerequisites). All other majors can apply, who can demonstrate sustained interest in the study or pursuit of European Union politics on campus (by taking EUR courses, combined with dedicated club activities, organizing campus events, etc. that popularize and advance the goals of EUR program). Award will be made on the basis of the highest GPA within the major / minor (for EUR), and highest overall GPA for other majors, but not below 3.0, as well as ‘demonstrated interest’ as defined above.
