The Shandong University Scholarship helps meritorious international students pursue higher education. About the Shandong University Scholarship

The Shandong University Scholarship is a scholarship program designed to assist deserving international students in pursuing higher education. This scholarship is intended to help international students in completing their degrees at Shandong University. This is a fully-funded scholarship opportunity for international students who want to pursue a bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral level of education.

There are no restrictions on what courses or programs Shandong University Scholarship winners can choose from. In other words, qualified students are free to choose the majors they want to take as recipients of the scholarship. The duration of the scholarship is equivalent to the course of their studies. It is specified in the admission letter.

Located in Jinan, Shandong province, Shandong University is a large public research university. Master’s and doctoral degree programs are available at Shandong University in virtually every major academic field, including medicine, engineering, and the sciences. Program Benefits

The Shandong University Scholarship consists of the first class, second class, and third class. Details regarding the prizes for each category are as follows:

• First Class: Students from this group are entitled to tuition waivers for the duration of their studies. Plus, they will receive a monthly stipend of 700 RMB (for Bachelor and Master students) or 1,000 RMB (for doctoral students).
• Second Class: The second class scholarship recipients will receive an annual reduction of 50% of the tuition fee.
• Third Class: An annual reduction of 20% of the total tuition fee will be awarded to the winners of this group.

For the course of their studies, students will not be required to pay for tuition, living expenses, or any other costs associated with attending the university.

Shandong University Scholarship Eligibility Requirements

To apply for a Shandong University Scholarship, applicants must first be a citizen of a country other than the People’s Republic of China. Furthermore, they must be in good health at the time of application. Also, applicants must have excellent academic performance and solid scientific research skills. Moreover, it’s important to note that applicants can’t be awarded any other scholarship funded by the Chinese government during the period they receive the Shandong University Scholarship.

Next, regarding degree and age requirements, applicants must:

1. Hold a high school graduate or an equivalent qualification and be under the age of 25 when applying for Bachelor programs;
2. Hold a Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification and be under the age of 35 when applying for Master programs; or
3. Hold a Master’s degree or an equivalent qualification and be under 40 when applying for Ph.D. programs.

Then, for programs taught in Chinese, applicants must:

1. Have obtained 210 points or above in the HSK 4 test when applying for Bachelor programs;
2. Have obtained 180 points or above in the HSK 5 test when applying for Master programs; or
3. Have obtained 180 points or above in the HSK 6 test when applying for Ph.D. programs.

Meanwhile, for programs taught in English, applicants must comply with the following conditions:

1. Applicants whose native or official language is English are exempt from providing English language certification.
2. Applicants whose native language or official language is not English are required to submit the results of the IELTS (6.0 or above), TOEFL (80 points or above, SDU’s DI code: C296), MyBest Scores (80 points or above), Essentials test (8 points or above) or other equivalent certificates of English proficiency.
3. Applicants whose native language or official language is not English and who have obtained their highest degree in an institution where the primary language of instruction is English do not need to provide IELTS/TOEFL scores. However, they must submit a letter of proof, signed, and stamped by the administering institution, stating the entire program was delivered in English.

Shandong University Scholarship Application

First, eligible applicants must log in to the Shandong University Online Application System for International Students to complete the application. They must fill the electronic application form for Shandong University Scholarship in Chinese or English.

The application form should be signed, scanned, and uploaded to the system. Paper applications sent by post will not be needed. Applicants are expected to provide all application materials as requested.

Shandong University Scholarship applicants for a Bachelor’s degree must submit the following documents:

• A letter of motivation in Chinese or English.
• Language Proficiency Proof.

Shandong University Scholarship for Master Programs Application Documents

Shandong University Scholarship applicants for a Master degree must submit the following documents:

• Transcripts of all courses taken when pursuing a Bachelor’s degree.
• Two recommendation letters from a professor(s) or associate professor(s) related to the applied major.
• A letter of motivation in Chinese or English.
• Language Proficiency Proof.
• Foreigner Physical Examination Form.

• Scanned copies of Statement of Financial Support through a guarantor and its supporting documents.
• Proof of employment (if applicable).

Shandong University Scholarship applicants for a Ph.D. degree must submit the following documents:

• The biographic page of the applicant’s passport.
• Bachelor’s and Master’s degree certificates or pre-graduation certification.
• Transcripts of all courses taken when pursuing a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree.
• Two recommendation letters from a professor(s) or associate professor(s) related to the applied major.
• A letter of motivation in Chinese or English.

Closing Date

The application dates for the Shandong University Scholarship for international students are from January 1 until March 31. Note that applicants can no longer access the system after the deadline. Applicants are advised to complete the application at least two weeks before the deadline. The university will not process incomplete applications, too.
