Imane “Pokimane” Anys, in collaboration with the American Video Game League (AVGL), is awarding college esports scholarships. The program, more familiarly known as the Pokimane Scholarship, aims to help students with their tuition fees.
As a video game player, you will find this generous scholarship to make your college affordable. In addition, the Pokimane Scholarship may be able to assist you in developing your interest into a valuable talent. You do not have to repay the scholarship you get, unlike if you took out a loan. Nonetheless, you must follow the rules.
So, this scholarship is for you whether your latest passion is playing a particular video game and you have exceptional gaming skills, or you want to learn how to create one!
About the Pokimane Scholarship
As the name implies, the Pokimane Scholarship is sponsored by Imane “Pokimane” Anys, a popular Twitch streamer and AVGL. The two work together to help gamers raise the level of their education. It is a one-time scholarship, and recipients can use it towards their tuition fees.
Along with the Intel Inspires program, the AVGL is a collegiate esports organization that hosts events and leagues. This program intends to assist creators and gamers in bettering their futures by providing them with various chances. Participants in Inter Inspires have the opportunity to demonstrate their abilities, gain access to development tools, and earn several scholarships.
On the other hand, Pokimane is a hard-working streamer who always strives to balance her gaming career and school. Based on her own experience, Pokimane aspires to help ease the burden of future players and content creators. Departing from these ideals, she sponsors a scholarship program named after her.
Pokimane is especially happy to announce the scholarship to benefit students who have a passion for gaming, as both of her parents are teachers. Through the scholarship, Pokimane expects to support more gamers to grow their careers in the industry and their academic performance at school.
Program Benefits
Pokimane and AVGL each donated $50,000 to make this scholarship possible. There will be ten winners of the Pokimane Scholarship, and each student will receive $10,000. All awardees can use the free money towards their tuition fees. Hence, the rising education costs should no longer obstruct them from attending the schools of their choice.
Also, students can entirely focus on their education. Often, Pokimane objects to how gamers-slash-students have to work full time to pay for their academic-related expenses. As a result, they have to bear a considerable burden, and it is a frequent cause of students dropping out of school. However, things are about to change soon, thanks to the Pokimane Scholarship.
It is a great way to lighten the financial burden on students and offer them the opportunity to attend a good university or college of their choice. Furthermore, the Pokimane Scholarship allows the recipients to focus entirely on their academics, increasing their chances of staying in school while pursuing their interests in gaming.
Pokimane Scholarship Eligibility Requirements
Pokimane and AVGL invite game enthusiasts to apply for the Pokimane Scholarship as soon as possible. First, you must be a legal resident of the United States or Canada to qualify. Unfortunately, international students are not yet entitled to this great opportunity.
However, we have other scholarship recommendations specifically for those living outside the United States or Canada. Those great scholarships include the Kotzen Scholarship, which allows you to study abroad in the United States, and the Fintiba Scholarships to study abroad in Germany.
Next, you must plan to attend a university or college in the United States or Canada in the Fall semester. The program is available to high school juniors and seniors, college enrollees, and graduate students.
There is no limit as to what field of study you can choose. Last but not least, you must demonstrate a great interest in gaming. The Pokimane Scholarship does not limit the names of certain video games you can play.

Pokimane Scholarship Application
Applying for the Pokimane Scholarship is surprisingly straightforward. In fact, it is an accessible scholarship that only takes you a few minutes to figure out. All you need to do is record yourself on a video talking about your love for gaming and how this scholarship will impact your life.
Your video should be one to two minutes long. In particular, it must touch on one or more of the following questions:
- If you were to earn a scholarship from Intel Inspires, how would it change your life? What would it mean to you, your family, and your goals?
- How would you like to help grow or improve the gaming community?
- What is a challenge you have faced in your life, and how did you overcome it?
- How has gaming helped you become the person you are today?
- What do you love most about gaming and/or being part of a gaming community?
You can upload your video to YouTube or cloud storage and include the link in your application. Next, write down your answers to one or more of the questions above. Your answer must not exceed 300 words.
Then, you’ll be asked to list some additional information, such as your ACT or SAT scores, unweighted GPA score, list of accomplishments, and anything else you feel you need to share. While these fields are optional, we strongly urge you to fill them in to tell the selection team more about yourself.

Closing Date
Submit your application before midnight, December 31. Make sure to fill in all blanks in your application, as AVGL will not consider incomplete submissions. The organization will also disqualify the late ones.
