San Marino (officially the Republic of San Marino or the Serene Republic of San Marino) is one of the world’s smallest countries. San Marino isn’t, technically, Italy, but this microstate is completely surrounded by Italy. Founded in the year 301 BCE, San Marino is the world’s oldest republics. One reason the country has mostly stayed independent over the centuries is because of its hilly location.
San Marino is a must-see destination for those who love history and picturesque panoramas. Like its name, “Most Serene Republic of San Marino” implies, the tiny country is a green oasis. It is complete with unspoiled land, rolling hills, wineries and fortresses – making San Marino a perfect place to relax and enjoy the tranquil surroundings.
There is only one recognized higher education institution in San Marino, the University of the Republic of San Marino (abbreviated as UNIRSM, or in Italian: Università degli Studi della Repubblica di San Marino). Tuition and fees for enrollment at San Marino universities vary although they are rather affordable. However, if you want to benefit from opportunities such as grants, scholarships and other financial assistance, you can apply for the following grants and scholarships in San Marino for international students. These grants and scholarships may help cover tuition fees, living expenses, travel costs and/or other expenses for certain duration of your study and stay in San Marino. Find one that suits best for your needs!
