What is Asian Institute of Technology?

Established in 1959, The Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) is an international English-speaking postgraduate institution in Thailand. AIT main focuses are on the fields of engineering, environment, and management studies. As a well-established institution, AIT’s rigorous academic, research, and experiential outreach programs prepare its graduates for professional success and leadership position in Asia and beyond.

AIT offers prospective students the opportunity to study at an institution in Asia which possesses a global stature. AIT also proceed in fulfilling its social impact and capacity developing role in the society. In 2016 AIT received gold medal in Thai Research Fund Ratings from the Thai Research Fund (TRF). AIT achieved the most perfect scores (seven scores of ‘5’ each) among all universities in Thailand.

Requirements

The following list scholarships requirements are in general terms. The list is also applicable to the full and partial scholarship scheme. Please refer to each link provided in respective scholarship or award. Or you can contact the address below this post for full enquiries.

The requirements are as follows:

  • Degree Certificate and Transcript of Undergraduate Degree and / or Master’s Degree;
  • Two Letters of Recommendation (For doctoral applicants only);
  • English Proficiency Requirement: TOEFL (Computer based: 213) and IELTS: 6 (writing and overall) or equivalent;
  • An essay on your proposed research topic (For doctoral applicants only).

Deadline and Procedures

The deadline for each scholarship or fellowship offered is different. But in essence, the deadline should be before August 2020. And please mark your calendar and subscribe to newsletter for updated information of your applied scholarship.

The procedure of each scholarship and fellowship here are different. Please make sure you read thoroughly and carefully. Not each of the application will be sent through email or letter. Make sure you read the way of submitting the application.

What are the scholarship

Full Scholarship

Please remember, the following scholarships are awarded on very competitive bases. Each of the following scholarship commonly award the following benefits. However, refer to the link provided for detailed information.

  • Full tuition
  • Registration fees
  • Accommodation allowance,
  • Bursary for living expenses in AIT’s residential campus,

The duration of the benefits is for the entire period of 22-24 months (four semesters) for the Master degree program. And there is also 41 Months time (7 semesters) for the Doctoral degree program depending on the scholarship criteria.

Royal Thai Government Scholarships

The Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) offers a number of Doctoral and Master’s level non-bonded scholarships provided by the Royal Thai Government (RTG) to qualified candidates with excellent academic qualifications. The RTG scholarship at AIT open for engineering and technology and environment, resources, and development field of studies. The eligible countries are, but not limited to; 1) Bhutan and Timor-Leste; 2) ASEAN countries; and 3) Other Asian countries. Asian Development Bank – Japan Scholarship Program (ADB-JSP)

ADB-JSP scholarships are awarded at chosen institutions (DIs), here is AIT. It is offered for study in the Asia and Pacific region to focus on economics, business and management, science and technology and other development-related fields of studies. Bangchak Scholarships

The Bangchak Initiative and Innovative Centre (BIIC) at Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) offers excellent a total of 3 master and 3 doctoral applicant to study energy, food engineering and bioprocess technology, and environmental engineering programs. WE Consultant Scholarships

Wisit Engineering Consultants Limited (WE Consultants) was founded in 1989. It has a long reputation of a multi-disciplinary firm that offers comprehensive consulting services in civil, structural, mechanical, sanitary, electrical and environmental engineering. Thai Pipe Scholarships

Thai Pipe Industry Co., Ltd. was established in 1963 under the subsidiary of the Thai Government. This scholarship is for the following academic programs: Water Engineering and Management (WEM ) and Environmental Engineering and Management. AIT-UNESCO-IHE programme: Joint Master’s in Urban Water Engineering and Management (UWEM)

Since 2009 AIT and IHE Delft Institute for Water Education in the Netherlands, have been in collaboration to offer a Joint Degree Master’s program on Urban Water Engineering and Management. Please refer to the link AIT-UNESCO-IHE joint scholarship offer and procedure.

Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program (JJ/WBGSP)

The JJ/WBGSP is now opening scholarships for women and men from developing countries . They should have relevant professional experience and history of supporting their countries’ development efforts. There are 9 different Master Degrees to offers in JJ/WBGSP scholarship. Japanese Government Scholarships

The Japanese Government open scholarships for Doctoral scholarships in Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems of the School of Engineering and Technology (SET). Please see the priority countries: 1) Southeast Asia: Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, Philippines and Malaysia; and 2) South Asia: Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Kurita Water and Environment Foundation (KWEF) Scholarships

Established in 1197, KWEF aims to contribute to the advancement of new technologies of water conservation and environmental protection. KWEF offers research grant program to support academic researchers in the following fields: Water Engineering and Management, School of Engineering and Technology, Environmental Engineering and Management, School of Environment, Resources and Development, Natural Resources Management, and School of Environment, Resources and Development. China Scholarship Council – AIT

Under the CSC-AIT Scholarship Program, CSC will offer annually 10 scholarships this year. Please note, this CSC-AIT scholarships program is for chinese students. CSC and AIT will provide benefits for applicants studying in the priority field of studies in Engineering, Technology, and Management. Korea Government Scholarships

The AIT under the Korean Endowment Fund (KEF) is offering Full Scholarship for qualified applicants with excellent undergraduate achievements to pursue a Master Degree at the School of Engineering and Technology, School of Environment, Resources and Development (SERD) and School of Management (SOM). INDEX International Group Co. Ltd. Bonded Scholarship

The INDEX aims to provide the study, survey, design and construction of infrastructure projects. It holds the project delicately and accurately in compliance with the engineering standards. The scholarship is open for School of Engineering and Technology, Structural Engineering, Transportation Engineering, School of Environment, Resources and Development, and School of Management. The scholarship is offered for Thai nationality only. The selected candidate will sign an agreement with INDEX International Group Co. Ltd. and will work for a period of 48 months (4 years) after their graduation. Please see the following link for further information.

Partial Scholarship

AIT Partial Scholarships / Fellowships

Only selected applicants will be granted AIT partial scholarships. They should perform excellent qualifications and merit in their academics This scholarship is also very competitive. They cover a part (or full) of the credit fees (tuition) only. Please remember that applicants should find other sources to pay for part of registration fees, accommodation fees or expenses of living.

RTG Fellowship

RTG-AIT offers generous academic fellowships to Thai students to continue their studies in Master’s and Ph.D. programs. The applicant eligibility covers: Thai nationality, having good English proficiency as required by AIT, and Bachelor’s degree coming from a renowned university. Please note, this RTG Fellowships only cover tuition and registration fees. It does not cover expenses for accommodation or living. AIT Fellowship

A large number of no-bond AIT Partial Scholarships Are available for students applying for Master degrees at AIT’s School of Engineering and Technology (SET); School of Environment, Resources and Development (SERD); and School of Management (SOM). The AIT partial scholarships aim at increasing the number of skilled international scientists, engineers, and managers. This AIT fellowship is open to international applicants.
